Bass Hunter EX Editors Review

Bass Hunter EX Editors Review
This is the Bass Hunter EX Editors Review. Designed by Poly Portables back in 2005 this boat is now on it's third owner. Keep in mind if you purchase from a factory or a web site owned and operated by the factory when they go out of business you may be out of luck, not to mention the warranty that is no longer in effect. We at DirectBoats.com are on account with all factories therefore we guarantee either a boat or your money back when this happens again.

Approximately 2005 it was designed and produced by a company out of Georgia called Poly Portables and branded with the Bass Hunter name. Then approximately 2015 it was bought by Rempel Rotocast in Mississippi. In 2017 it has a new owner southern outdoors in Mississippi. Since it changes ownership hands so often it makes us nervous at DirectBoats.com. Most of the time boats change owners is because factories want to get out of warranties or liability associated with the production of the boats. That being said the boat did have a few production issues with Poly Portables. One being the installation of a air hole to help the boat change air pressure inside the boat. We found that that air hole by Poly Portables allowed water into the inner hull fairly easy. Current models as far as we know these are no longer used. The boat has always been fairly heavy for it's size compared to competitive boats. The last issue is the factory seat and seat base bracket... there is no posted weight capacity on the seat or seat base bracket. There is no drain plug to get water out of the inner hull and it is hard to get the water out when this happens. A recent change is that the current models don't use seat tracks like the older models. You may see some pictures of the tracks still around. The overall height of the boat is shorter and the sides are fairly low on the ex allowing for water splashes and a greater possibility of rods or gear to fall off the boat. The pointed nose keeps the inside space almost the same as the bass baby. The last issue is the factory seat and seat base bracket, there is no posted weight capacity on the seat or seat base bracket. The seats fall out if no one is sitting in the seat, so you must secure it separately if traveling down the road. It performs ok with a trolling motor (2-3mph). Outboard speed performance compared to a jon boat is poor since it has pontoons vs flat bottom. On the pro side, the boat is fairly stable for it's size in the water, more stable than a jon boat of similar width. Buyer beware of these specific problems we listed about the bass hunter EX boat.
